  3. ​ @carldoove3644  I saw a video about retiring to Portugal. however, I decided to look at videos talking about the downsides. Guess what? As soon as outsiders turn up then "foreign investors" also turn up buying up property in an attempt to take the money of people trying to retire. This pushes up prices for everyone including and especially the locals so all you see in the comments is locals saying "please don't come here". That's just homes, imagine the effects that it has on all other aspects of life. I also did a quick search in Chile even over there where there is no industry or jobs to talk of the first few property ads have absolutely absurd prices. People from the west trying to get away truly are like locusts.
