  1. Do not cohabit. I lived with someone for 6 years. Getting rid of her, because our finances had become intertwined, cost me about $500K for a whole variety of reasons. Getting rid of her was the best thing I ever did. Cohabiting was the dumbest and most expensive thing I ever did. Took me several more years to finally get a clue that they really aren't in it for you. Now I have unassailable peace and certainty in my home. Luckily I never married her otherwise I would have ended up without a roof over my head.

  2.  @adizzyianenamour  In some states her living with you defacto makes her your wife without a wedding ring. I live in a state where that isn't a thing but it still cost me a pretty penny to get her out the door.

  3. The more and more I see and hear about Australia the more I am disappointed. Was added to my avoid list this year despite so wanting to visit. It seems a lot of commonwealth countries are like this.

  5. America is the most expensive country in the world to attempt to renounce your citizenship. You don't matter, the money they can get out of you no matter what is all that matters.

  8.  @torrancehale1819  Depends on the state, if you're in the US. In some states depending on how long you've lived together she could defacto be considered to be your wife. I live in a state that has no such laws after moving from a state that did. The thing is with a woman in your home the state has so many ways of injecting itself into your life. Caveat emptor.
