  1. "Experts say it could take months to figure out what happened" It's very simple. The US ship was anchored on a track out of Falkirk that the ship that rammed it always uses. They were on autopilot and rammed the US ship at 16 knots without slowing down at all. That means that the person that was supposed to be on lookout wasn't having grown so used to the same track every time with autopilot. 100% avoidable.
