I wasn't married but 12 years ago I went in to the hospital to have part of a lung removed. While I was in the hospital my other half and so called partner moved out and took my pets with her leaving no forwarding address. When I finally got home from the hospital 4 days later I called the police, they located her and told her she'd better return my pets or else. As I mentioned elsewhere there's an epidemic of people that have zero morals or empathy and cannot see beyond themselves or what they can take from their "partner".

@AngelWerx-2012 Yes, yes, I did. A state trooper came round to my house and sat and chatted with me about it and what had happened. He could see that I was in a really bad way from the surgery and the last thing I needed was this bs. After talking to me he went away worked out where she'd moved to and called her. He later said she made lots of excuses why she did what she did. He explained to her what she had to do and two days later she brought them to my house in their carriers. I took my pets and slammed the door in her face.

@thelightwithin7437 I don't blame you. I totally get that regardless of gender that it's a crap shoot. What makes it worse is the state being involved and the massive imbalance of power between the parties. I wouldn't get married either even though 15 or so years ago I really wanted to.
