I worked in a large company on the street. Some of the material that HR sends out was borderline insane. One was a 300 page training module about how changes were coming i.e. a screed that was a veiled heads up to the men in the organisation that they would be replaced by women and at the end of this "training" they will be fully prepared to cope with what was coming. The other things that were done was to give directives by word of mouth only to managers so there's no paper trail of what's going on. This was not long after being able to leave someone voicemail stopped being a thing - I'm not joking. This ramped up about 4 years before my time there ended but every time I recall the insanity I really wished I'd archived it all somehow. I'm told that Microsoft Recall is now mandatory so I guess every minute of your day will be micromanaged my Karens in HR that have no actual work to do themselves other than being political commissars.

@JohnSmith-ds7oi If you knew where I worked you'd understand the statement "I really wished I'd archived it all somehow" Everything is locked down. No printers, except approved printers which you have to sign into to retrieve your prints, screen capture disabled, etc. No access to mass storage on your thin client. USB ports disabled, etc. Really, the only way you could do it is to record your screen which is almost impossible as you're in an open plan office on every floor. There's also a reason why leaving voicemail was disabled. If you could leave voicemail then the company is required to record and archive it all thus there being lots of paper trails.

@NoahGooder I never tried because it was a little too risky. You reminded me about the episode where we had to all hand in our company phones "to save costs" all at the same time. We got an email from legal demanding that the firms software be installed on your private cellphone and if we didn't comply it was a violation of company policy so you could be sued, disciplined or fired. This was all hogwash and I never complied. The software had the ability to totally wipe your phone at the firms behest without your say so. Obviously the software has total access to everything you did with your phone. Think about that. I applied for a role at a different firm but it would have been even worse based on the feedback of former colleagues. Upon departure you are barred from discussing what it was like working there for very obvious reasons.
