I watched an episode of Horizon (on the BBC) from 2016 last night where they talked about dating apps and dating. The protagonist was a Dr, a good looking white guy in his late 30's. He had tried dating in London and New York (5 years trying in New York) and in his words "He's still single" despite wanting to settle down and get married. Watching the dates in NY that he did go on you could tell the women were just not interested. It was bizarre to witness. If he couldn't land any of them then what the heck are they looking for ? I hate to say this but all these years later it makes me feel a little better, just a little. I could have done with seeing that Horizon episode back then too.

@SpartanTrigger You'd think a tall dark English Dr would be an easy sell. I guess he's not rich enough for these lovely ladies. Only bankers will do now.

@postmodernmining Yeah, his failing was he knows he's a good guy. Some tattoos and a rap sheet would get Niagara flowing.

@chaptermasterpedrokantor1623 I lived in NYC for two years thinking that while I'm there i'd find someone. One of the stupidest mistakes I ever made in my life. It was just 2 years of continuous frustration from many that have achieve almost nothing in their lives.

@SpartanTrigger Yeah, I hear that. The only black girl I went out on a date with a couple times had a chip on her shoulder over Harlem being gentrified :face-red-droopy-eyes: The rest were thoroughly forgettable and flaky which they are 100% allowed to be. When it happens over and over again you start to question your sanity and self as I started to do. In the end moving back to my house/home in the countryside of a neighboring state was tonic for the soul.

@DOCTUSCUMSCIENTIA Yes, she seemed like a very pleasant sort and I hope it worked out for them. I like red heads too :) Speaking of London, my best friends tell me over and over again that if I'd stayed in the UK dating wouldn't have been as much of a massive pain as living within spitting distance of NYC. Even 100 miles away, before moving to NYC for a couple years, virtually all my matches were in NYC which was also a massive pain.

I watched something a couple years ago that said that if the money men wasted on taking women out for valentines day was collected it'd pay for a trip to mars. The thing is even though that would further mankind I can hear the whining from the future as I type this.
