  2. Many years ago, when in the Air Training Corps, I was doing glider training one weekend and the weather was closing in, so the instructor said that we were going up for a 'weather check'. Reaching over 1000ft on the launch we leveled out not far below the cloud base and felt a bit of rain then looked down to see that we were actually flying backwards despite the ASI showing 35kts! Needless to say we hightailed it back to ground as quickly as possible and got the gliders back to the hangar for the rest of the day!

  3. Sputnik 1, at least it 'beeped' a lot. I remember standing with my dad in the garden watching as it deorbited and burned up in the upper atmosphere.

  4.  @williammobley9634  It'll be easier with the Cape Canaveral launch site running in tandem. One site to launch the Starship, the other to launch the refueling flights.

  25.  @channelchin8911  But NASA is getting nasty about SpaceX and refusing to let them launch in case a failure destroys the pad. Of course the fact that SLS will use the same pad and has yet to fly is neither here nor there but it, too, could fail and do as much damage. NASA are not letting SpaceX fly until SLS is successful so we may have to wait a very long time for Starship to go up.

  33. Modern aero engines like the UL series have been designed around pump gas and run perfectly well but now that we have the 'green' fuel with all its additives I guess they'll have to go back and recalibrate the settings.
