  2. The Conductor Esplin Well China isn’t Communist. That would mean achieving a stateless, moneyless, classless society. They call themselves Communist sure but that’s because supposedly that’s the end goal of their revolution. Truth is Marxist-Leninists usually go State Capitalist instead of post-capitalist. Communism isn’t inherently Statist in itself as it’s an anarchist ideal that requires the abolishment of State. However Marxists do believe in State control of the workers, that is to say a State where the workers rule and govern, to eventually get to Communism. Doesn’t necessarily have to be authoritarian as seen in the Paris Commune it can be very liberal politically. They established a bottom-up worker’s democratic socialist republic. The Marxists-Leninists however are authoritarian in method and advocate single party rule of a supposedly worker’s party and State control. With that said Bernie Sanders is a Social Democrat who isn’t even a real Democratic Socialist despite what he calls himself. He’s not post-Capitalist. He just wants a welfare state like most of Europe has where certain needs are a public matter and capitalism is still very much the economy. Thus a robust middle class. Some of his policy ideas used to be implemented in the FDR New Deal era in America. As for what @abstracttraitorhero is telling you is that America is very right wing economically. Calling social issues left or right is tricky but when it comes to social and cultural issues you’re either progressive or conservative. Believe in greater liberal rights or traditional norms. Government could be involved in protecting or granting greater rights to certain groups or be involved in protecting conservative norms and institutions.
