  1. Chris Wehrle he was also a white man’s burden racist. And I say that as an admirer of Teddy Roosevelt at some level. What I liked was his individualism and his beating of corrupt cops. I think it’s not much of a problem to have statues of historical and important figures. But also let’s not pretend these images represent history. They don’t teach history, this isn’t Night at the Museum. Their just images and there is a difference between American history and mythology. Books teach history, statues are just images. With that said I don’t mind them on display in public spaces.
