To be a leftist you have to be anti-capitalist (against private property in the means of production and wage labor) and support a socialist system. Whether it be a centralized or decentralized planning system or socialist markets. Socialists are against capitalism not necessarily market economies.

  2. easynameable they aren’t leftists. They are still for capitalism (wage labor/private property). Doesn’t matter what they call themselves they aren’t lefties. Especially in the USA where politics are skewed towards right wing capitalism. If they were leftists they would be for market socialism

  3. JFK Lincoln the same reason libertarians infiltrate the Republican Party. This country has always had two major parties. And the progressives feel affinity towards the Democratic past of New Deal and Civil Rights administrations
