Mondo Cool I understand where you are coming from. I think my real point is that Broly is no where near the greatest DBZ villain. Far as character goes Frieza is the most developed and nastiest. I agree that Frieza is number one. Broly not even top 5. He lacks a certain quality. I get that as the true SSJ (non canon) he symbolizes the overall personality of his race. But his story was poorly developed. He was born left for dead and I don't even understand how a saiyan would survive in space. His character wasn't appealing at all. His charisma comes from his bloodlust, muscles, rage and tendacy to fight berserk. He is very similar to Bojack.

Mondo Cool I feel like you are debating something pointless. Simply because Broly is non canon meaning he never existed in the actual DBZ universe. So you can forget him and every other DBZ movie along with GT. The only characters that are official are those from the Dragon Ball and DBZ animation series along with the "Battle of the Gods." I thought Broly was cool and still do but the story of the true Legendary Super Saiyan should have been better. And we finally got that in "Battle of the Gods." Turns out the true Super Saiyan is endowed with their godly power by being a pure/good hearted being borrowing strength from six others. Thus making the now not so fabled Legendary Super Saiyan a god.

blacktee31 It has to do with the fact that these characters might as well not exist. The ones that have to do with the actual plot or story are genuine and therefore have more legitimacy to the actual series. They count the others don't, just ask the creator of the series. He doesn't acknowledge non canon material.

blacktee31 and yet Broly sucks because he gets his ass kicked by inferior Saiyans. Birus was so much more believable. Non canon was just never believable because the stupid stories interrupted the actual story. Continuity is key.

blacktee31 He didn't destroy the planet due to not having enough power left to do so not a change of heart. He's more believable because he is an actual god in the DBZ universe. He destroys as he sees fit not maniacally and carries him self with some grace. Pretty cool villian. He fits into the story because it is after the series. And canon or non canon he is the most powerful villian of the entire series. Broly is basically fan fiction. And he obviously got his ass kicked 3 times. Broly came out of nowhere suddenly being born with Goku. Birus was actually at planet Vegeta in the past and planned on killing Frieza. He's the overall better character.

blacktee31 I realize how true to my opinion I sound. And no in the real Japanese version and English version Birusu clearly was going to destroy the planet but couldn't gather the power. His master tells him it seems you have used a high percentage of your energy. There you go. In the end Goku vs Broly didn't happen really. Birusu kicked everyone's ass with chop sticks. Broly went berserk. Different styles but Birus was more refined in his martial art. And he wasn't planning on gaining power or wealth. He just did his job as he saw fit and kept the balance of life and death. Better character. Better fighter. Better story.

blacktee31 You think that I believe I have a superior opinion lol. That's a paradox. And just so you know I like Broly more than Birus. Doesn't change the fact that Broly isn't a legit character. Though Birus has more substance than Broly and Frieza is my number one favorite with the most substance.

Mondo Cool They sure have the same carnage loving personalities. Of course Bojack's story is irrelevant as much as Broly's due to them being non canon. In BoG it is revealed the true SSJ is in fact a god. Broly still is a simple character. And Bojack is even simpler. This is why I wouldn't put Broly in my top 5 favorite DBZ villains. He lacks true purpose like Kid Buu only I found Kid Buu much more charasmatic.

Mondo Cool Now how can you be wrong on an opinion? As far as canon goes however the true SSJ is the god form that even Shenron recognized. It also explains the myth that King Kai said earlier in the series that the guardian god of the Saiyan planet destroyed the planet due to their wickedness. The story was of course embellished and wrong in that Frieza was the one who destroyed the planet, but the god wanting to end the Saiyan's wicked ways was very much true. And as it turns out the appearance of that SSJ god either created or enforced the legend of the SSJ amongst their race. Canon aside Broly is a badass and his bloodlust is parallel only to Kid Buu. Much like the totem shaman warriors of Germanic and Scandinavian peoples Broly is the ideal ruthless cutthroat Saiyan warrior they all aspire to be. It speaks of how heartless and war oriented this race truly is. They seek to have no bonds of love of any kind to be the perfect warrior. To be ruthless and strong enough to kill own blood is encouraging to these people. Broly is the prime Saiyan warrior, the example for all to follow, like the Germans sought to be like Thor. It's possible that the SSJ god who was actually a force of good was the inspiration for the unparalleled strenghth and power of this legendary Saiyan warrior. Yet they twisted his purpose to fit their own bloodlust ideologies in which the legendary SSJ was a prime Saiyan, the perfect killer. Of which Broly embodies. The legend of the SSJ to these people whether they believed in the being or not, what they took of the story is the perfect Saiyan warrior and what they should aspire to be.

Mondo Cool What I said was speculation. That the SSJ god that appeared may have been the influence of the SSJ myth. And the Saiyans were inspired by the strenghth of this Saiyan god. Saiyans being how they are twisted the story to fit their ideologies of the perfect Saiyan warrior. And didn't only Shenron knew about the SSJ god. Vegeta I think didn't knew and neither did Birus or Whis. Could be that the legendary SSJ is the embellished story of the SSJ god. That of course is a calculated speculation. It is possible. Myths are embellished throughout years and they eventually turn out different from the original.
