Got any news? Neoliberalism is the economic doctrine of Chicago School and Milton Friedman. It spread in politics with Reagan and Thatcher. Democrats are center-right.

Antediluvian Atheist I tend to keep the left-right political spectrum mostly for politics. Left is more egalitarianism in power distribution, less coercion, greater freedom. And right is greater hierarchy, more authority and hierarchy. Due to Marxism the “left” pivots right to achieve leftist goals. But that’s cause most associate socialism with government leaving out the more libertarian socialist models. On economics you can have greater or lesser concentrations of power as well. Most people would conflate capitalism with markets which is in itself a misconception. Therefore people forego Market Socialism which could be a powerful ally in the socialist movement. Truth is Capitalism will always be a socioeconomic model that leans right as it creates class hierarchies, authoritative business models, and concentrations of wealth and power. Classical liberalism lead to socialism, that’s something people like to erase from history. Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Thomas Hodgskin, John Stuart Mill etc... all developed the base of socialism. Neoliberals and Capitalists just like to pretend that their pro-capital economics is anything like what classical liberals were advocating. Back when a greater number of people were able to own their means of production and industrialize in agricultural and artisanal economic pursuits.

Altruisminservice Ironically the Status Quo and Capitalism is so horrendous, it’s economic liberalism is for Capital only, for the Capitalist property owning class to receive favors and privileges of the State. The Far Left and Far Right both hate it and seek to abolish it, as it is recognized as a parasitical plutocracy. I want to be very clear here I am in no way saying you are a Fascist or anything near it. Not everyone who has nationalist ideals or tendencies are Fascist. But your argument of liberal capitalism hurting national economy is very much the argument Fascists made against capitalism. And just because the Fascists made the argument doesn’t make it a bad argument, they were right. Liberal Capitalism is a plutocracy in which capitalists do not care for nationalism or national economy, but their own profits and disgusting speculation and finance. The Fascists argued from the Far Right that this hurts nationalism, the nation’s integrity and character, and that it was a parasitical plutocratic system that should be done away with. Funnily enough Fascists economically were Corporative. They actually wanted capitalism (though they wouldn’t call it that) just not liberal bourgeois capitalism. They maintained the capitalist socioeconomic model but made it serve State and National interests instead of just private capitalists. This was Corporatism. The Far Left or socialists of course have their own arguments against the capitalist system and hate it. However from the Far Left you have a more anti-Statist criticism of it, and is concerned with wage slavery worldwide and the exploitation of labor globally, not concerned about nationalism. Either way Capitalism is a Status Quo that when it evolves to it’s worst levels of exploitation pushes the masses to seek to destroy it from either the left or the right. I myself am a leftist.
