MontanaMountainMen I don’t know about low wage. But as industrial capitalism came to America there was backlash towards it. The Individualist Anarchist movement lead by such libertarians as Benjamin Tucker and Lysander Spooner called for free market Anarchism and the halt of the capitalist system. They were Socialists. During the time the South would have political and economic arguments with the Northern industrialists. One debate was the North’s seemingly hypocritical stance against their slave economy, whilst northern capitalists relied on wage labor, otherwise known as wage slavery. Lincoln would say wage labor isn’t like chattel slavery as the wage laborer can eventually become a self-employer or a capitalist. As industrial capitalism grew it did not help his arguments as perpetual wage laboring is a thing and capitalism only grew in exacerbation as with today’s multi-national corporations and big businesses. Liberal economists did not foresee industrial capitalism, nor did they want the elevation of capital over labor. Like Socialists, liberals believed in the labor theory of value, and market oriented economies, a belief still held by Socialists who advocate markets. Capitalism is the primacy of capital, and it is a distortion of the free market principles of classical liberals.

playgrrrr Social Democracy is not altogether different from Modern Liberalism (FDR’s ideology). The whole point of Modern Liberalism is the post-industrial capitalist world in order to secure freedom and individual liberty Capitalism must be held and intervention must occur. Else people are subject to the power and influence of capitalist elites.

Sasha Da Masta As a Libertarian Socialist, I think State Socialism/State Capitalism and Marxist-Leninism is garbage. There are much better socialist ideologies.
