  1. This Republic has lost it’s sense of liberalism and philosophy of the Enlightenment. For a sec, historically speaking, the American Republic was set up as a beacon for the Enlightenment philosophies of liberalism and rationality. Support of scientific institutions and advancements. Overtime those values eroded in favor of post-modern conspiracies and religious dogmatism. We are facing a crisis and the values of reason and liberalism are being challenged against a wave of zealotry and conspiracies. I read the correspondence of the founders of the American Republic and while they were flawed and controversial they had a deep understanding of the powers of reason and science, and some like Jefferson talked of how society and the Republic will advance alongside scientific achievements. Today we’re actually more prone to partisan games and believing in memes on the web rather than actual information

  2.  @Dominancelogistics  a Republican is a representative democracy which is what most people mean when they say democracy. I have yet to hear anyone say they support a direct democracy without constitution
