@jamie49868 no i'm not saying, that working smart does not mean working hard. however, they are not the same thing. someone always chasing you to keep you busy, does not sound encouraging to calm reflection. "If you don't have anything to do, then I'll find something for you to do" honestly sounds tyrannical

@jamie49868 i'm not even denying the possibility of any of that. but, all those nice things, don't require saying something like that. i'm obviously wondering, "what would happen if you didn't find anything to do and you didn't want to do what he suggested?". the statement puts me off

@jamie49868 technically your Dad allowed you to do whatever you want too, only with a strange "or else" part that i still don't get. he could have been having a bad day, and you somehow got fixated on this statement, for all i know. can i assume that you never (dared?) question him, so we are both guessing as to what it means now? if you proudly mention something, then be emotionally ready for questions and possible criticism
