  1. you shouldn't judge languages based on how much they get used. - i sometimes write legacy stuff in Visual Basic, it's somewhere in between Trash and Meh as a language. it gets the job when you have no choice - i would put JS in the Would Code In category. JS has too design many issues like aggressive type coercion to be God Tier. TS doesn't go far enough in fixing JS' issues. the main thing that JS has going for it, is higher order functions - i completely agree with putting PHP in the lowest category - i would put Haskell in the amazing or Got Tier category - i would put Rust in the amazing category - i would put SQL in the amazing category. it's pretty unique with it's declarative style, where you only have to explain what you want and not how it has to do it. but it's syntax feels old and clumsy

  2. i disagree. there are a lot of language improvements in C# over Java which it is based on. the tooling for C# are also much better with Visual Studio arguably being the best IDE
