i used each of those (AVG, Avast, Avira) at some point, but they all turned into nagware

"Elliptik - Spheres" playing in the background. nice song :D

@luisjalabert8366 oh. that's actually a good deal. i've been charged over 100 bucks in the past for them to remove a faulty network card. i guess it depends on the symptoms and their honesty

the concept of this video was quite good, but i frown a bit upon using the price as a measure of quality. you could be missing out on a good deal. also market prices change because of other things, like crypto mining recently. it's also hard for people to know what will bottleneck beforehand. i would like to see you go through for example the spec of the components to determine to choose a PSU. i prefer some kind of reproducible results. it was still a good video because i got to see someone else's decision process. but i wanted to give some honest feedback, because it's so close to what i would have liked

he recommended Windows Defender and keeping your system clean, in this video
2
the prices are still ridiculous

1:21 dude... that's one sweet screwdriver. which brand is it? and where did you get it?
1
why the hell is it pink?
1
***** not if there is some kind of Titan Z created in 15 years
1
you should have started by making a copy of the pictures with something like a linux live cd, before messing around
1
i hope that whoever wins actually sends a thank you to Jay. people are rude
1
again with the pink...

pc building isn't all about gaming. when i stopped gaming, it was one of my best decisions

@somebodysomeone23 i think it depends on the kind of person the programmer is. many naturally have an interest in computing in general. but some are only interested in their specific job, and remain a beginner in other areas
1
has this stuff really become standard or is this just on expensive enthusiast motherboards?
1
it can't hurt to connect a PC Buzzer, so that it can beep codes
1
yeah. and who opens a box like that?
1
it woudn't be a completely crazy idea if we all ran FPGAs
1
there is something to be said for consistency
1
@luisjalabert8366 i've often found it cheaper to get the cheapest parts to diagnose, instead of taking it to a repair shop
1
old programs like Asus PC Probe really shine here for comparing with previous hardware health. hopefully the next system you will let her build won't be all pink again
1
Process Explorer

@bryanteger yeah. i hate it too. who knows what kind of stupid algorithm they are running

@aaaarrrg3773 i'm not familiar with how wide the selection of components is on that site, so i can't really say. usually i'm curious about only a few specs. for example the amount of RAM. and then i don't want to specify more and just want the cheapest system. but that doesn't seem to be possible anywhere. so i always end up going through tons of complete configurations for the price. typically one configuration for each CPU socket, because there is often an unavoidable part that is unexpectedly expensive or unavailable. so, using the cheapest RAM as a starting point in that case does not work. i was kind hoping that JayzTwoCents knew a quicker way out of this maze. i often just give up
1
that's great. i'm a huge fan of small cases
1
this is good. but, the problem is that one usually doesn't have spare parts that are compatible. i usually get the cheapest parts possible to diagnose a problem (still cost money). an unbootable system is one of the nicer problems because it either boots or it doesn't. maybe you could have mentioned beep codes (not all motherboards have a readout). i was hoping you were going to show something harder to diagnose like random system crashes and how to (stress) test each component
1
i remember fraps. what is obs?
1
at least it's not pink this time
