many times people take a leap of faith when rationality can be used. it's not simply about using faith or not. it comes in varying degrees.

theinsekt then can you show a rational system that does not have a solid 100% objective foundation? wouldn't it stop being rational when it is shown that it is not objective?
1
theinsekt yes, there are varying degrees of objectivity (but that's besides the point). i don't see the need to look at the en.wikipedia article, when you have given your view on rationality. you said that all rational systems don't have a solid 100% objective foundation. i have my doubts about this being possible because it sounds like a contradiction. that's why i am asking for an example. "The creature could make you think that a certain axiom is correct or incorrect" yes, but what difference does it make if no-one can ever tell the difference? it's meaningless.

theinsekt you sound very sure for someone who doesn't believe in 100% objectivity. so let me contradict that. it is possible that there are people that know what 100% objectivity is and that reality is just a conspiracy against everyone else. i think if you interpret objectivity in a relative sense, that there is such a thing as 100% objectivity. although you claim to describe things that prove themselves, it seems like you are describing things that actually contradict themselves. it's very simple... an axiom that is not true is not an axiom.

that was a lengthy response (i did read it all though). it's not that i completely disagree with you. actually i think our point of view is mostly the same. it's just a matter of what seems practical to you does not seem practical to me (hence the "relative"). 2 problems i have: - there are pretty much an infinite amount of ideas possible. so why entertain the world of what is possible without any examples? - you're idea of a creature messing with observations is possible but it seems unfalsifiable of course depending on how you look at these issues you might or might not agree on their practicality.
