I think it's a great layman's example, say it so a child could understand, or like Richard Feynman... Lithium ion puts out more amps in less time simple as that. Think about the other extreme, one could argue that we should use super capacitors because they 'have the biggest straw' , but how many more would we need to achieve useful capacity!? Liquid metal batteries make perfect sense for the application. A slow draw of power over the course of days or weeks. Any power company with a grain of foresight and resources to do it would use a hybrid system. Lithium packs to smooth minute to hourly ripples , liquid metal for hourly to day scale variation. (Nuclear for minimum baseline, please don't flame me for that one)

Yeah, but now you need x2 as many batteries

@akunog3665 CO2 collection from the atmosphere to fix the problem seems completely absurd to me, you're putting more energy in to solve the problem then you got out of burning the fuel in the first place. Like the atmosphere is some kind of really inefficient hydrocarbon battery! I can't understand why that's even a thing. It seems like some kind of normalized mental illness that technology will solve everything like we lived in a Sci-Fi or something. Heck , most of the experimental carbon capture technology uses electric from the grid to do it which is made a lot burning fossil fuels. One step ahead three steps back . It seems more practical to use that technology to get organic chemicals from the atmosphere of Mars when we're living there, not that that is much less sci-fi.

Yes Joe I did compare your ability to explain things to that same talent of Feynman, just don't get an ego about it.🤓
