Don't forget his interests were something his parents did not understand or care about. If your son talked in gibberish you wouldn't know what he needed. So It's easy to say that in hindsight when it's now understood what he was doing and that all that stupid science stuff was real. If my parents were divorced and my mom wasn't around to throw out my uranium , my life could have been a lot different.

@anonanon3066 I never said money was his issue (I can't know) Overly ambitious goals and a loner with a keen insight to the extremes that are possible. I don't think his parents we're capable of understanding what he was capable of doing. Side note, did you ever watch "the thought emporium" channel? He dropped out, he seems better for it . It's a mentally thing .. If Hann was around now he'd probably get in trouble for trying human cloning.

@anonanon3066 couldn't afford rpi, so got my bs with online classes 1-2 at a time while working part time and mr-mom with kids .. I've met people who successfully were pulling 14+ credits and fulltime job with kids! Can't imagine how. ..

Nowadays he'd be a biohacker. .. probably be arrested for killing his neighbor because of the human meat in the basement but it was actually just a clone. Get's out of prison after a few years when The neighbor shows up wondering what the hell is everybody talking about. But then goes back to prison but for an even-- longer prison sentence--- for health code violations when he tries to clone himself!!!! Where he then commits suicide two days before he would have been granted amnesty and a grant for college tuition but didn't know it. Why does everybody just assume a bomb!!!! That's stupid.

@v-rdays7525 I don't think you realize how hard it is to do enrichment and get the quantity needed for a bomb.. as an individual who's budget is based on stealing and samples to get materials , a normal lifetime likely would not be long enough to make a nuke.. not alone at least, and he was a bit of a loner. But yeah, still no joke , even that relatively 'small' amount of material likely reduced the lifespan of his neighbors a fair bit. A dirty bomb could have made a REALLY unhealthy mess, and that he certainly did have the knowledge to do if he was more bitter than just resorting to alcohol and drugs and got suicidal and homicidal instead. For that you don't have to be a genius and it's quite easy, that's what's scary!!! His neighbors are just fortunate it scared him too.

@v-rdays7525 no, but yes. Chernobyl was not a nuclear bomb. He wouldn't be making a nuke but an accidental dirty bomb, a mini Chernobyl. City size instead of continent sized. His block becoming an exclusion zone. Much like the neighborhood in Apollo Pennsylvania across the street from NUMEC. All these years later and a super fund clean up, but not even sure they want to build a parking lot there.

@v-rdays7525 yeah, bad enough, they just don't make nuclear bombs that small. But don't mind me in my semantics, Fallout from a meltdown or an explosion of any size is still deadly, and dead is dead and I'm not going to argue about that. And of course there's still the danger he could have went off the deep end and decided to use his knowledge of chemical explosions to disperse radioactivity. And him being a loner, the only clue we have that he wasn't going to do that is that when he was pulled over he was trying to get rid of it because he scared himself with what he was doing, and even that is self-reported by him, what if he was lying? On that note I've always wanted an RTG, nothing big enough to melt down and I have no inclination of doing anything dirty, just putting that out there in case I'm lucky enough to run across enough radioactive material to build one. 50 years of trying and I could barely make a geiger counter go off..sort of...well ...my head is six times background, (mom's chemotherapy) but I'm not cutting it off to make a reactor out of it.

I am a dead wringer for Ronnie DeFao , the year he came up for his 25'th parole, that holoween I went and rang at the door of the Amityville horror house. When they saw my face, I have never seen someone look so scared as they slammed the door. If you're still alive, sorry about that.
