No, it's due to Diesels having to inject the fuel, it takes time and the only way to do it faster is to increase pressure which is not possible, smaller Diesels can there for rev higher. Also the pistons and rods are heavier and will destroy the bearings above a certain RPM

@Redtooth75 Heard of the M1 Abrams? It has 395 Lb•ft of TQ but 1500 HP, it uses a 10:1 gear to change that to 3950 lb•ft and 1500 HP. See? I can make an engine with a infinite TQ, I just need a few gears 😆
