  2. That one is meant to stabilize, not as backup...i.e it is compensating for fast load changes. If you wanna talk day to day backup, thermal storage is the go to, cheap and reliable. Then we have flow batteries, sodium batteries that will fill the gaps in places with no option for thermal storage.
