And a cornering acceleration of what? 0.01 G?
77
Ricing has nothing to do with the engines, it has to do with the cosmetic mods to the cars...
33
Depends on the drag coefficient and frontal area of the car in question!
28
Don't forget to keep the power, that is the tricky part.
23
No, it's still just mass and power....
22
Missed The workshop?
16
Nick Martin He is right, the fastest I found was 1.57 seconds to 300km/h
7
No no no, just a remark, the motors don't die out, the battery cells in the P100D is optimized for Capacity not power output, so they get too hot during a full acceleration, that's why ludicrous mode only works for about 2-3 min of full load!
5
VTEC with an infinite amount of lift change.
4
@itsm3th3b33 Funny, passed 9 courses in physics with flying colors... You are just mad large diesels are slow. Let me let you in on a secret, they are slow beacuse of efficiensy and reliability ;)
4
It has a fancy hydraulic clutch (torque converter) for accelerating hard at slow speeds. It turns 1000 rpm at 30 mph but can slip and turn faster :) So the ECU does that automatically considering wheel slip and so on :D Pretty cool ey?
3
Avarage height of a Japanese man is 170.7cm or 5 feet 7 inches
3
Roots style air heater you mean? The air is about 70% warmer from that thing compared to a screw style superscharger...
3
@itsm3th3b33 Electric motors win 0-60 because they don't need to shift and the Tesla has 2 motors, which gives better grip due to no central diff. Further electric motors are easier to modulate to achieve more grip. Torque is still meaningless, otherwise drag racers would talk torque and not HP, HP is what moves the car, torque and RPM are just numbers.
3
No, that is determined by how heavy the vehicle is and what gear you're in!
3
Chad W Well 95% of the world use km/h so I`d guess that xD
2
And that makes it bad how?
2
Very interesting! But as a road car already is really out of internal space i see it hard to achieve without making the car an extra 3-4 feet longer :P
2
It wouldn`t be as economical as an I4 as the surface area of the cylinderwalls are greater than in an identical displacement I4. Though it would make more power than an I4 if you made it rev to 12 000 rpm
2
If you have a flat torque curve the power increases linearly. If you have a very rough torque curve the power comes on rough
2
Nicolas Losito If you want imidiate response they should buy an electric car lol, combustion engines always lagg :P
2
It doesn't have a transmission in the more common term as in a shifting gearbox :P But yea, it has a "technically correct" transmision
2
ICE+Torque converter+Electric motors=love
2
Only `murican cars messure HP in BHP...so drivetrain losses are not an issue :)
2
No no no, the torque is defining how much work is being done in one revolution...HP is how much work is being done... A 0nm 250HP engine would only produce 250HP if you spun up the engine to infinity.
2
cphank151 And if it is at say 10cm away that is (0,1m)/(340m/s) which is 0,00029 seconds, or 0,29 ms, at 10000rpm the piston takes about 30 ms for one stroke, so only 2% of that time would be activation time :) Pretty dope! And if they get the distance down to say 3,3cm it would be 0,66% :D and at 7500rpm that would be 0,49% There is more than enough! Even if the activation time where 10 times slower it would be a significant upgrade! And at low RPM it would be practically open for the whole stroke.
2
The clutch turns fluid (like a propeller) and then a opposing impeller (like a generator) drives the drive shaft :) Almost all automatic transmissions uses them. The Electric engines supports the engine and can deliver almost 700HP from really low RPM! And they one directly linked to the gas engine itself functions as the start motor and a generator :) Really amazing stuff! And only around a 100 kg weight penalty for the system :D
2
marksuave25 No problem man :), they like to stirr the pot you know, engage in hostile discussions and such. That comes with the anonymity of the internet :P Just ignore them or block them :)
2
LucasAndAGuitar sigh You haven`t seen alot of african american children haven`t you? And I guess you don`t understand genetics either...there are many genes for how much melanin you produce in your skin, and depending on how the fathers and mothers DNA matches there can be many different shades of skin color...
2
That is not a production car then now is it? That would be a dragster type of car :P
2
You mean Volkswagen? No way they would compete with their own Bugatti....
2
Which don't help.
2
But are you running efficiently? How much HP/Liter? How much HP/KG?
2
There are V16s too ; ) If you have the DLC
2
No, un-intercooled roots make only 10-30% more power, with a screw type and intercooler he could make 100%+ if the block can handle it.
2
@BlueDually4x4 the top fuel deagster could surely pull more than the semi truck engine...
2
A unengaged clutch don't produce any losses.
2
@craigdavis5498 It still uses a turbine to reclaim energy from the exhaust, it just also stores it in a battery to help spool it up later quicker.
2
No, discharging is a whole different chemical reaction, that depends on the cathode material, amount of conductor material internally etc. Most often for the same degradation you can discharge 3-10 times faster than you can charge them
2
That's why it's so frustrating, trucks have high torque numbers because they need to be efficient, not because they need to pull stuff! Change the gears in a truck and swap in a Turbo V6 with 600 HP and it will go all day (won't last as long as a semi engine but still). And besides, just beef up the frame you will get a heavier vehicle, easiest upgrade ever! Out with the welder!
2
@alexstromberg7696 Then why does the M1 abrams tank have a Engine with 475 ft/lbs of TQ @10,000 rpm and 1500 HP @30,000 RPM? Because HP is all that matter
2
Without RPM you won't move at all.
2
When will you stop thinking propaganda is true?
2
@derekturner3272 So you are avoiding the question, so we are on that kind of denial level, got it. Seek help.
2
But math is fun when you get it! Worth every second if you love a subject to learn the math behind it!
2
If you can get it to fit with a new transmission and all, yea, why not?

ChinnuWoW And using your social intelligence is a crime?
1
ChinnuWoW You know that 80% of the message is lost due to it only being in text...and I know he meant it in a negative manner...
1
ChinnuWoW No reason? Oh, yea, just ignore his tantrums about how this wont work and how shitty it is O.o
1
ChinnuWoW No it is not.
