Putin’s main objective: STOP Ukraine from developing its massive gas and oil reserves. He doesn’t need to drill it. Just stop Shell, Exxon and BP from developing their finds. He believes he needs to be the only person selling gas and oil to Europe, like he’s a Bond Villain. It’s an armed robbery. That simple.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that some of these channels are talking about the fact that Ukraine is sitting on as much oil and gas as Russia is, while others aren’t, but has never developed it (which takes years) despite selling the rights to do so to Shell, Exxon and BP? So far, Putin has been able to prevent that, until they located reserves in the west, where he can’t reach it. Ukraine also produces 50% of the entire world’s supply of Argon, used in manufacturing microchips. And what was it again, that there’s a global shortage of right now? But this is not Putin’s armed robbery, right? . . . 🤔

@LordZontar : It will be a combination. All these oligarchs are losing their money and houses and yachts too, and they DON’T intend to die in a nuclear flame! They have relatives being swept up in the mass arrests. And the sanctions effect everyone. Especially when the jails are too full and reports get out about how they’re treating their own people. Remember the democracy protests last year? Triggered by ONE documentary, showing the luxury lifestyle that Putin lives in? . . .

@Odyss2023 : They support Putin in the same way that you or I, “support,” missing lunch, rather than eating a shit sandwich. They were fine telling themselves, “Well at least we don’t have to pretend to believe in communism, cue all day for a loaf of bread, and fear getting arrested if we complain about things.” But, now they’re seeing that this is exactly what’s happening, support will dwindle. Judging from their protests only a year or so ago, they know Putin has trillions of their Rubles, and they might just decide to take them back, rather than starve for his sanctions? It’s not like Putin will be missing any meals? And if his demoralised army decides to head back to Moscow in support of them? Well? . . . “Any civilised society is only three square meals away from revolution,” right?

@dreamingflurry2729 : Are you kidding? “Might cheat”? He always gets 101% of the vote doesn’t he? Let’s not pretend he’s anything other than the cheap thug he is, and that his people will pay the price for their indifference to that, when they decided it was all better than the Cold War days so hey ho. Now they’ll starve until they overthrow him. And that demoralised army will turn back to Moscow and release their own families from the jails and put PooTin inside one.

@tymak_cz : In the age of the internet, it’s a mistake to underestimate people power, or public opinion. How fast people can organise, and how hard it is to monitor multiple groups at once, knowing which poses the most real threat, etc. It would be an ironic way for Putin to be brought down, don’t you think. @bickboose9364 : What do you mean, “now”? It always was. Which was fine while things remained better than the Cold War days. But now they’ll be cuing all day for a loaf of bread, getting power cuts, losing all their favourite websites and TV stations and going to jail for complaining about how shit things are. Maybe Putin’s demoralised army might turn back to Moscow and remove the cause of their problem? Especially when they keep learning about their relatives being locked up for protesting the senseless deaths of their husbands, sons, fathers?

How INSANE would the rest of the world have to be to let him walk away from THAT unscathed? Only an idiot let’s a madman aim a loaded gun at his head a second time . . . @mweskamppp : Ukraine is sitting on oil and gas: as much as Russia! It’s not been developed at all, but it’s just sitting under the ground and under the sea off Crimea, where Putin wants it to stay. That’s what this war is about. I promise you. And that’s why he’s shocked at the west’s sudden resolve. Because, ever since it has been a, “thing,’’ the west has ALWAYS maintained control over energy supplies. And they’ll crawl over a billion corpses to keep that control. It will be no different to the last billion to them. Right, wrong or indifferent, nearly all of the wars in the last 100 years have been fought over energy reserves.
