Putin knows Ukraine has massive gas and oil reserves: offshore in Crimea, in the Donbas region and now in the west, by the Carpathian Mountains. For the first time Putin can’t reach them. He doesn’t want to drill them himself. He just wants to ensure NO ONE does. His pretexts for his claims are exactly that! “Pretexts.” How can ANY, “deal,” with the Soviets have any standing if the, “Soviets,” are not a thing?

  2.  @Scromanescu  : This is what annoys me about these kinds of videos. Your points may well be valid, but Putin’s got us all talking about what he wants to talk about. NOT about what’s going on! Shell, Exxon and BP did a deal with Ukraine which would have made the country rich! They have as much gas and oil as Russia, possibly MORE! But they’ve never been able to develop it! Putin has seized Crimea, to stop offshore drilling, fomented chaos in the Donbas region, to stop drilling and now there’s even more gas and oil in the west, where Putin can’t reach it without taking his army to the Carpathian Mountains and taking the whole of Ukraine too. He doesn’t want to take their energy reserves (for now) he just wants to ensure NO ONE, especially the west, does! It’s an ARMED ROBBERY. Nothing to do with, “ideologies,” “geo-politics,” “global this,” or, “historical that.” It’s an old school thug, stealing sh*t, and hoping we will all be DUMB enough to say, “Well, he’s got a point I suppose?” Putin needs to be STOPPED.   5. How can you claim that an informal, verbal agreement, WITH A DIFFERENT COUNTRY, the Soviet Union, should even apply to the Russian Federation? That requires the unspoken acceptance that the Soviet Union is still a thing! Maybe it’s time Putin got over his, “unspoken,” belief that he’s allowed ANY SAY over what OTHER countries do at all?
