It helps to know what his motives are. Putin believes his power depends upon being the biggest energy provider in Europe and Ukraine is sitting on enough energy to put Russia out of business. He stopped Shell and Exxon developing these finds by fomenting, “separatists,” in the regions where the reserves are (hearing a lot about, “Donbas,” lately? Never heard of that area before this all started?) and occupying Crimea, where the reserves are sitting offshore. Now the massive reserves in the west of Ukraine have been confirmed and paranoid Putin can’t reach that area unless he has the whole country. This is a pure smash and grab operation. And it’s going badly because his conscript army knows there’s no reason to be doing this, other than to make a trillionaire and his mafia cronies even richer and more powerful than they already are. Armed robbery. But since he’s threatened to use nukes already, and since this is about energy (something the west has NEVER allowed themselves to lose control over in a hundred years) only an idiot would allow a mad man to point a loaded gun at his head a second time. The west will pour all of its resources into getting the mad man’s finger off that trigger and putting him in a box where he can’t threaten to wipe out all life on Earth again. We have no choice. Even if we allow him to think he’s won this one, the west will be swift and relentless now. I pity the Russia people, who will pay the highest cost for the Revolution that is inevitable now.

@wisikahn : I hope he faces a tribunal. And that idea is not so far fetched as it might sound. It all depends on whether his cronies have the balls to pull off a palace coup, before the starving Russians get desperate enough to take matters into their own hands? We might just get a change of management, with a new face, same regime?. But that will allow the Russians to pull out of Ukraine with dignity at least, and maybe reset some more reforms? But, if we’re really lucky, the Russian people will rise up and hand Putin over to the Ukrainian people or the UN? Not necessarily an impossibility? . . . People never thought the Soviet Union would collapse in their lifetime one month before it happened, so? . . . ✌️

Doesn’t everyone KNOW what this is about? Putin has been preventing Ukraine from developing its MASSIVE gas and oil reserves, for the past 20 years! The Donbas region and the Crimea are also where those reserves are. Shell and Exxon did a deal with Zelensky’s government to develop the finds, so Putin scared them out. Now there’s massive reserves confirmed in the west of Ukraine, by the Carpathian Mountains. Putin can’t reach that area so he’s stealing the entire country. It’s just an armed robbery, nothing more! I don’t think this energy crisis is going to be as bad as some people think. We were expecting prices to shoot up world wide anyway, right? At least this way, when you pay extra to fill up your tank, you know that money is contributing to world freedom? You can feel good about that. Europe NEVER should have gotten into bed with Russia to start with. Ukraine has MASSIVE reserves, which Putin has been able to prevent them from developing. That’s why he’s there. Pay the extra and smile. It’s time we stopped doing business with Dictatorships anyway.

They’re not pro-Russia. They’re pro keeping the lights on. It was SUICIDALLY DUMB to have gotten into deals with Russia to begin with, and has only been a result of Putin’s oligarchs bribing and blackmailing their way into meddling with western politics. We need to take the pain and smile about it. This is what happens when you get into bed with Dictatorships. Ukraine has MASSIVE reserves, btw, which Putin has been able to prevent them from developing. That’s why he’s there. Pay the extra and smile. It’s time Putin was deposed.

@danielhutchinson6604 : Like I said, the reserves are not developed. It takes years to sink wells and get them pumping gas and oil. Putin has not tried to pump it for himself. He’s ensured that no one will, so it all comes from his sources in Russia. Read up on this stuff. Wherever there’s, “separatists,” in Ukraine, there’s massive gas and oil reserves. It’s well known. Exxon and Shell have already spent billions on the drilling rights. It’s a matter of record.

@doaimanariroll5121 : That’s a fair analysis and you are right to factor in China, sitting on the fence, because they’re happy for the west to be weakened by Russia, but they can’t afford to lose our trade. Especially since the world is heading into an energy recession and prices are about to skyrocket world wide. China will remain as neutral as possible, because it doesn’t matter which side loses, so long as it isn’t them. Russia or the west’s loss is their gain, so long as it doesn’t tip too far in one side’s favour.

From his broken English point of view, he literally says Russia is selling us, “cheap,” gas and oil, but fails to mention that Russia has zero competition in Europe at all. Suddenly Ukraine is sitting on more than Russia has, and Putin doesn’t just want to lose his monopoly. He desperately needs it! A shrinking population, an economy the same size as Spain’s but with all those nukes to service and arms to pay for, and nothing whatsoever that the west wants or needs other than energy reserves, that they cannot get somewhere else. Without that monopoly Russia will have to go back to Soviet style shortages and paranoid authoritarianism, just to stop its starving population from overthrowing them. Or, they might just overthrow Putin to get his assets which add up to trillions! Literally! Putin is THE richest man on Earth in terms of personal wealth, while his people are among the poorest in Europe! And if it wasn’t for his gas and oil, he’d be in jail by now.

It’s time Putin got over himself. His country’s economy is the same size as Spain’s, including all the gas and oil he exports. Ukraine is sitting on bigger reserves, which is what this whole thing is really about. He’s been able to prevent Ukraine developing them until they confirmed big finds in the west, where he can’t reach them without taking the whole country. This is an armed robbery, pure and simple. We need to stack up sanctions until he leaves Ukraine.

What Putin calls a threat to his own security, even the Russians can see he just means control over energy reserves. He just wants to prevent Ukraine competing by developing its MASSIVE gas and oil reserves. It’s an armed robbery, pure and simple. And China, the, “communist state,” with more millionaires than any other country on the planet, doesn’t get to lecture the west about, “hypocrisy.” Putin needs more and more sanctions, until he leaves Ukraine. Otherwise Putin will be in an economy as small as Spain’s, yet running the planet! He’s insane if he thinks the west will give up control of it’s energy supply! We are moving out of fossil fuels into the hydrogen age anyway, so all of this will be academic in 30 years tops. Meanwhile Putin is in Ukraine to prevent them from developing their MASSIVE gas and oil reserves. Shell, Exxon and BP have a deal with Ukraine to develop them, but have so far been kept out of the areas wherever they found them. First, offshore in the Crimea. Then they found massive oil reserves in the Donbas region. Ringing any bells for anyone? Now they’ve confirmed the potential fields of gas and oil in the west of Ukraine, by the Carpathian Mountains, where Putin has been unable to reach without taking the whole country and, guess what? . . .

This ends with Putin leaving Ukraine, or the whole world loses. The west will grind Putin down until his people starve and get sick of him. We should all back the Ukrainians for the sake of world peace and security. It is all about Putin preventing Ukraine from developing its massive gas and oil reserves. Racism doesn’t help. Putin’s obsession with, “racial purity,” and his claims that certain groups are, “ethnically Russian,” (a myth of ridiculous proportions) have only made his population shrink.
