@warriorprincess1846 : Honest, truthful answer? . . .
A free country is being invaded by a dictatorship is what’s happening. Russia wants to establish the old borders of the Iron Curtain days and Putin has been forced to drop the pretence (that no one fell for anyway) that they were in some way a, “democratic,” country since the fall of the Soviet Union, when in fact, all that really happened was a Palace Coup in which the top KGB types had to scrabble for power whilst maintaining the pretence that the country was now free.
Russia has a legitimate concern about the west, assisting former Iron Curtain countries toward democracy, especially if they were to become members of the same security arrangements, but actual invasion of a sovereign country is NOT a legitimate response unless you’re a gangster and dictator. Yes, it would be scary for Russia if Ukraine joined NATO and started housing nukes on the border of Russia, but that would remain an issue between Russia and Ukraine (and the UN or NATO) should that happen. But it’s not going to, nor was it likely. Therefore, this is obviously a pretext for grabbing power.
Take the Cuban Missile Crisis for example. America had the same concerns that Russia does now, to get Russia’s nukes out of the Western Hemisphere and they played hardball over that. But they didn’t INVADE Cuba and take over the country. Just ask yourself, what right does ANY country have to decide how another runs its affairs? If this goes unanswered, what sense does it make to have ANY borders at all? Italy could decide to re establish the Roman Empire with more legitimacy than Putin has to invade Ukraine! Why not have the British Empire back? Russia has NO legitimate excuses for this.
But Putin doesn’t understand grown up stuff, like context, history, truth or justice. He understands power, and who’s holding it. He thinks it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission, and thinks he’ll be in a stronger position once he has control of the Ukraine. It’s up to the rest of the world to make him see why he’s wrong, or we’re all f*cked.
And that’s the honest truth, regardless of what you think of your western government.

@Power to the people : Then you should be rooting for China, madam. 🥴 Because Russia hasn’t got a hope. They’re all but broke, and Putin will have to start dipping into his own bank account soon, if he wants to keep this up. That’s WHY he’s doing it in the first place. A last, desperate Hail Mary. Someone needs to find out what his doctors have told him lately? Because he’s acting like he’s been given a terminal diagnosis! Remember the protests he had to violently put down last summer? How do you think he’ll cope when they’re ten times worse, because the people are starving and he can’t afford to pay his, “peace,” keepers in Moscow? This is the beginning of the END for Putin. So, if you hate America that much, you should move to, “Chiynah!” The Communists have at least got MONEY and a prayer. 😁

@gagsdoublej4254 : I believe in Jesus, which is why I don’t believe in Hell. He never mentions it except but once, and then it’s as an analogy. Most self-proclaimed Christians don’t read their Bibles. And, of those who do, they are frequently mislead by their pastors or priests, because they don’t have the historical knowledge, the historiography training, the insight or academic background to interpret what they’re reading. Hell is not real and the there’s no red guy with a pitchfork waiting to torment sinners for eternity. These are inventions of an ignorant church, who is embarrassed by its own history and teachings and constantly seeking gradual ways to bring it closer to the truth, against the resistance of its own believers. In the same way that, “Schools are not places for smart people,” churches are not a place for true believing Christians. In your heart, you know I’m right.
