I read a couple of those Reacher books and found them cringeworthy. Jack always has, “one rule,” for every situation. The Killing Floor was actually my introduction, at the behest of a fan. I could see the appeal and understood why it would make for better TV than a book, as so many trash novels do. Imagine the novel of Die Hard as it was on screen? It was very different in reality, which was why Frank Sinatra was plausible as the lead and got first refusal. Hard to imagine Ole’ Blue Eyes as John McClean, right? Reacher has the same thing. The books are AWFUL, but I knew right away that they would be great TV.
