  2. To answer your question, Jake, (which I’m sure you didn’t really need us to) we Europeans are doing just fine, thanks. Poverty and desperation is a thing in Europe, but nothing about Putin’s war has changed any of that. People are not prostituting themselves for basic requirements all over the western world, any more than Putin has a hope of still being dictator by the end of next year. Once the Russian people realise that it would be far easier to get rid of their own dictatorship than it is to sacrifice everything they own, from their food to their own children being tossed into Putin’s meat grinder, than it would be to pull off their INSANE notions of bombing Yellowstone Park, they will do exactly that. That UN Christmas song gave me a shiver down my spine, in the best possible way. Thank you for your service, Jake. Both your past military undertakings and your current news and analysis. Thank you, SO MUCH. ✌️👍✊🇺🇦

  3.  @ztoob8898  : Indeed, geology does not work the way they think it does. It’s literally a dumb and desperate idea. And it’s likely to be in a long list of dumb and DESPERATE ideas to spew out of Russia until they accept defeat in Ukraine. It’s most likely to fail, as you say. Or, if it did succeed, (which it wouldn’t) it would do more harm to Russia, all of which is in the northern hemisphere, than it would to the US, much of which is in the southern hemisphere. They are more likely to depose Putin themselves than to see such a bonkers attack in reality. And there lies the real point. It will start occurring to them, if it hasn’t already, that it would be infinitely easier for them to get rid of the Putin regime; less financially costly, less painful, less shaming and less hard in practical terms than it is to pull off any of their lame fantasies about turning this disaster into some species of, “victory,” just so that one mad old man can save his face.

  4. There are at least three good reasons for Ukrainians to hold on to Bakhmut. Draining Russian military reserves is one. The propaganda war is another, as it’s a big deal in Russia. But also, there is the largest concentration of this Nazi Wagner Group fighting for the Russian side there. They’re not even fighting for Putin, as they’re a rag tag bunch of mercenaries and convicts, headed by a, “man who would be king,” whom Putin must realise is the nearest thing he has to a rival right now. While they’re busy being wiped out in Bakhmut, they’re not all over Ukraine committing atrocities and stealing anything they can lay their hands on. All of this serves Ukraine’s war goals, though I do feel for those on the front line and hope they’re being rotated sensibly?
