  2. One, apparently well known, Ukrainian described this visit as, “The serial killer, returning to the scene of his crimes.” If it was actually Putin, you would have been able to tell by his permanent erection.

I’m no expert in that field, but if a large quantity of a commodity is artificially high, the competition can profit by raising their prices in unison. Organisations like OPEC exist so they all act in concert, and keeping international fossil fuel prices low and manageable is the business of governments. So that would be my guess? Plus, now they’ve found an effective formula that’s finally getting the desired results, they’ll be disinclined to mess with it. All guesswork on my part, but . . .
