@verticallines212 : My theory, for what it’s worth, is that the protests will only start if something gets worse for Ukraine as a direct result of US policy. At the moment, since everyone knows not believe a word out of Trump’s mouth, and that he can change his mind at literally any point, even in the middle sentence, and thus US policy with it, everyone is waiting to see what he actually does. His words can be safely discounted.

@ : Well, look at it from a Ukrainian’s point of view. During Bill Clinton’s time in office, Ukraine agreed to give up ALL of its nuclear deterrents in return for a written promise of military, “protection,” of sovereignty and protection against invasion, signed by both Russia AND the USA. Now look where they are. Have either Russia or the US honoured their solemn promises?
