I don’t want to come off as callous but, those women seem to have been fine with their husbands all training to bomb innocent Ukrainian civilians into dust, from many miles away, but are complaining when they get transferred to units where they’re forced to fight armed Ukrainian soldiers. So it’s hard for me to work up a whole lot of sympathy for their, “plight,” which seems primarily to be a complaint about not getting to be the bullies they were promised their menfolk would be?
At least they aren’t having to replace their windows with humorous graffiti boards, or rebuild their electricity stations every other day, so they still have it pretty good compared to their Ukrainian counterparts. And you don’t hear of Ukrainian wives and mothers banding together to complain about anything!
I love your even handed, balanced approach to all these videos, Jake. I think the decision to read the highlights without showing Russian complainants anymore was smart. After all, you still give links for all who wish to see them, without allowing Russian complaints to draw attention away from the very just plight of the Ukrainian people and their actual real time suffering.
We must never forget that every Ukrainian spouse suffers the same anxieties for their trooper counterpart, son, husband, etc, whilst having to avoid random missiles killing or maiming them outright, plunging them into darkness and the freezing cold, or randomly robbing them of friends, relatives and neighbours. Every time I see Russian spouses or soldiers make one of these videos, knowing that if they were to get a response it would likely be their violent repression, I can’t help but wonder, are they hypocrites or merely stupid?
