That’s probably the, “smartest,” phone I’ve ever seen? Must have been a bullet fragment or shrapnel or something? Not that I’m any kind of ballistics expert, but if that was a direct shot, it must have been from a squirrel gun or a 22? @RainerMichelle : Just to make sure I’m not misunderstanding you here, you’re saying that as in, “Why shouldn’t they?” and not as in, “Why on Earth don’t they?” right? Forgive me if I’m being a bit dim? Because, from what I’ve read recently, The Russian Brigade has been struggling to keep up with demand, so many volunteers have started pouring in. Some are from regions near the action and further afield in Russia, whilst many are from abroad and are, presumably, largely made up of those million or so dissident young men who fled Putin’s draft? Add to that the countless disaffected families that have fled Russia over recent decades and we start to get a picture of experienced veterans as well as neophytes, filling up the ranks as fast as the Brigade can steal back equipment for them from their raids. I can only guess at the logistics of training such numbers? But recent events have clearly been long in the planning. It’s becoming a bit of an action drama in which there are new exciting developments each day. If it wasn’t for all the real world harm that the Russian, “army,” of terrorists were causing, this would even be fun!

@Groot : The fact is, we simply don’t know all the possible permutations of how a couple of Polish patches wound up on the uniforms of these troops, or what the Ukrainians intend to achieve by letting them be seen in these videos? There are a lot of potential answers to those questions, so I’m withholding judgement until I know more. All we know for certain is that it’s causing panic deep inside Russia. And we’re all guessing.

@aaronmicalowe : I’m trying to understand your point, here? Are you unhappy that Pols have been in Russia? And, if so, what is your issue? Their, “legitimacy,” or fears of escalation, perhaps?

@nandesu : I guess we’ll get the answer to that question if the Washington Post starts publishing a new batch of recorded phone calls between Russian soldiers and their families again? . . . Or maybe they intend to pilot drones with the chips? If it’s the usual Russian MO, however, it’ll simply be opportunistic theft, as usual.
