@rcwarship : That’s a very misguided comment, at best. Bad faith, more likely. Russian propaganda, at worst. He was showing the American long term commitment. Jake had no choice but to explain why the senior politician behind the president was not applauding, for his international audience, who probably have no idea who these people are, yet cannot help but notice the difference between McCarthy’s response and Harris’s and wonder why.
Jake’s responsibility was to explain that, and he did so without expressing ANY opinion about it. If you are embarrassed by the basic facts, that’s your own emotional response, but it doesn’t change the reality. He didn’t say, “An insane conspiracy theorist, who’s brutality toward the victims of a child mass murderer have sickened all right minded people, has inveigled her way into a power she does not deserve and responsibilities that she is intellectually incapable of discharging, now has the testicles of the Speaker Of The House in her hands,” did he? Now, THAT would be expressing a political bias. He merely told his international audience what they needed to know to understand what he was showing in the video.
If you’re ashamed of that, write to your representatives about it? But don’t go accusing people who disseminate facts of having a political bias. That’s just wrong headed. I’m being as polite about that as the facts allow.

I haven’t made up my mind on this body double thing, or to the extent it’s used, if it is real? But it’s fascinating nonetheless. Most of all, what I DON’T trust, is the word of an ex-KGB operative, who knows he can spin such a yarn so as to reduce the likelihood of an assassination attempt. Why assassinate the dictator when he may turn out not to be your target? Anyone who read the book or saw that awesome movie, The Eagle Has Landed, will know how badly wrong such a plan can go. (If you get the movie, btw, make sure to get the Director’s Cut, or the version you’ll see is terrible!)
Of course, Putin’s paranoia only adds to the plausibility of this idea because, if no one ever gets within 40 ft of the real guy, that makes it much harder to spot any subtle differences, even for those who see him regularly. And the careers of dictators are so, “performative,” anyway, following a very self conscious set of mannerisms and scripted speech patterns, once again, making it simpler (if not actually easier) to emulate that set of behaviours, as they can literally be put into writing by the dictator himself if he wants someone to learn them.
