@tmarkcommons174 : Under a separate clause (I think it’s section 2? Could be wrong, but it won’t be hard to look up) a nation cannot be admitted to NATO while it is at a state of war with another country. If NATO were to blindside Putin by accepting the definition he has insisted upon throughout and call it a, “special military operation,” they could say, “Fine Vlad, then Ukraine is not at war and they can join tomorrow.” This will never happen, but if it did, you will note, under that section 5 you’ve just read, that all of the other nations in NATO would be legally obligated to treat Russia’s attack on Ukraine as an attack on their own sovereign territory. This would escalate matters far beyond where they are now. Personally, I would welcome this. But I perfectly understand why most of the free world would not and thus, will not allow it to come to that.

@Dionysus-gv9lz : There is a popular myth about immigration, pushed by the far right, which goes something like this: Every migrant welcomed into a prosperous nation, takes up resources that would otherwise go to citizens of that country. The fact is the opposite of that. The very reason that America is the wealthiest country on Earth is because of its demographic arrangements. The US has always imported a significant proportion its population through migration and, check the numbers for yourself; migrants contribute far more to their respective nation’s economy than they take out of it.
Right now, we are at a time when population figures have never been more important to economic success. Not the total numbers, but the growth or decline in population is what makes the difference. Countries with shrinking populations are facing economic melt down. Countries with growing populations are prospering. And those which artificially stimulate their growth, through migration, are getting richer, faster.
So, whatever you may think of, “illegal,” migration, it’s worth remembering the hard math. But it’s also worth remembering that the farm owners and industrial magnates who hire illegals on the largest scales and incentivise the largest numbers to try their luck are the ones who are never punished for creating the problem in the first place. If there was no money or work to be had in the USA, there would be no migrants coming for that work.
But the people who bleat the loudest about the issue of, “illegals,” are usually the ones profiting the most from their labour. It benefits them to donate to campaigns so as to indemnify themselves against the creation of laws that would ban their practices and put an end to the problem over night.
This practice is over a century old now. And they are simply manipulating voters. While they exploit cheap labour and avoid paying their taxes, they donate to politicians who convince you to blame the wrong people, thus protecting their own financial and political interests and the interests of their farm and factory owning donors.
Do a little reading into, “Demographics,” and study the numbers. Politicians on both sides will lie to you, but the numbers don’t.

@Dionysus-gv9lz : YouTube zapped my response to you, but if this version gets through, I respectfully ask you to give it your consideration?
There is a popular myth about immigration, pushed by the far right, which goes something like this: Every migrant welcomed into a prosperous nation takes up resources that would otherwise go to citizens of that country. The economic fact is the opposite of that. The very reason that America is the wealthiest country on Earth is because it has always imported a significant proportion its population through migration and, check the numbers for yourself; and because these migrants contribute far more to their respective nation’s economy than they take out of it.
Right now, we are at a time when population figures have never been more important to a nation’s economic success.
And asking, who determines what is legal or illegal? When you ask that question it’s worth remembering that the farm and factory owners who hire illegals on the largest scales and incentivise the largest numbers to try their luck are also the ones who are never punished for creating the problem in the first place.
If there was no money or work to be had in the USA, there would be no migrants (legal or otherwise) coming for that work.
But the people who complain the loudest about the issue of, “illegals,” are usually the ones profiting the most from their labour. It benefits them to donate to campaigns so as to indemnify themselves against the creation of laws that would ban their practices and put an end to the problem over night.
This practice is over a century old now, but only in recent years has it been such a political hot potato. And this new focus on such an old practice is simply due to politicians manipulating voters. While the farm and factory owners exploit cheap labour and avoid paying their taxes, they donate to the politicians who convince you that it’s suddenly an urgent issue and to blame the wrong people for it. Thus they protecting their own financial and political interests.
A little study into, “Demographics,” and the basic numbers, is highly revealing on this issue. Politicians on both sides will lie to you, but the numbers don’t.
