  1. Well, Russia is narrowly outspending what Europe is committing to Ukraine, not what they’re spending on their own respective militaries in their own countries, right? Plus, at least one third of Russia’s entire budget automatically gets written off on corruption and waste. Combined with the spiralling cost to the average citizen in Russia and we are very much where the best economists predicted we would be when they said from the outset that all these sanctions would take 4 to 5 years to take full effect and actually threaten Putin’s domestic stability.   2. Well, when this thing started, the economists said it would take 4 to 5 years for sanctions to take effect and to threaten Putin’s domestic security. Remember, Putin is not matching Europe’s military budgets, only what they’re contributing to Ukraine. And Russia will lose up to half of that figure on corruption and paying over the odds for expired equipment from third world nations.
