I have a special edition of Soylent Green and you get to see Robinson make a little speech behind the scenes, when they give him a cake to celebrate his birthday. His thanks is humbling and he finishes by saying that he hopes to celebrate many more birthdays, despite knowing (I think he must have known) this was his last. Very moving.

“Number 7: Lana Turner And The Johnny Stompanato Scandal.” “Forgotten”??? I guess nobody at WatchMojo watches movies then? That multi-Oscar winning smash hit movie, L A Confidential doesn’t count? That film features the affair and states the outcome, “in Technicolor.” Along with several mentions and depictions in various gangster movies made since! It may not be in the headlines any more, but nor are her movies. Yet, anyone who’s heard of Lana Turner, or the LA mob for that matter, knows all about this.

Wait a minute? Number 4 has to be a joke? You might as well be saying, “Mae West is largely forgotten,” like so many other stars of her era. Mae West built her entire career on, “sex and sex appeal,” as stated in your piece and literally NO ONE, “forgot,” that at the time or now! Pushing the boundaries and getting herself arrested were the foundations of her stardom, and she regularly had cops in the wings of her stage shows, just waiting to see if she would cross the line again. Hell! If there were no cops there on opening night, she would start up a rumour to ensure that there would be by the next night! That’s what MADE her a star! What are you guys even talking about? What part of that is, “forgotten”???

I would imagine that nearly all white westerners have some ties to that evil trade if we scrutinise our ancestry hard enough? Maybe that’s why it flew under the radar? After all, we’re all related to Julius Caesar and breathing in atoms that were once a part of Marilyn Monroe’s body, but maybe some people just don’t understand how statistics work?

Bad start. Cavemen (& women) had better teeth than we did. They had no sugar then, and cooked far less. You made a lot of those (assumption based) types of mistakes in this video, without thinking them through

This list made no sense to me at all? . . . There are so many other missions, in which so many more people are killed, and with darker motivations. Many on your list may be memorable, but they mostly, don’t have the body counts, stark selfishness, or cruelty of so many others I can think of (even though I can’t remember their names).

“To the oblivion of his employees and customers . . .” is completely wrong. Perhaps, “the obliviousness,” was what you meant, even though it’s a bit clunky? But, unless you’re telling us that Chuck Berry’s employees and customers ceased to exist when he installed video cameras, your AI has selected the wrong word. When I hear a human read these things to us, I question if it is a thinking person, since they didn’t spot the manifest error when they said it out loud?

Seriously? Never in movie history have there been more reasons to be frankly disgusted with the Academy than the historic 13 nominations for Emilia Perez. In no particular order: *Cultural insensitivity, *Racist Stereotyping, *Offering the leading role to a known racist who regularly Tweets bigotry, ignorant cruelty and her support for a man who would have had her tossed into a concentration camp, ADOLPH FRICKEN’ HITLER! *A libretto that tells the audience it’s okay to be a mass murdering drug lord, so long as you change sex, because . . . reasons. *The story makes NO SENSE. *The songs are not just terrible, but unintentionally comedic (as your clip so amply demonstrates) I could go on, but the point is, NONE of the other movies on your list come even CLOSE to being as offensive, or for SO MANY reasons. I suspect that this video is trying to dodge that issue and perhaps even to neutralise some of the hate this, “musical,” is getting by suggesting that, “this has happened before,” and, “there are worse examples out there.” But the simple, empirical FACT is that there just aren’t! There isn’t a more woefully misjudged example of personal biases overcoming judgement and reason than Emilia Perez. None of your picks are even in the same zip code, let alone close!
