1) Inflation is controlled (if, “controlled,” at all?) by The Bank Of England.
2) Inflation going down does NOT result in a reduction in prices; especially for daily essentials like food, fuel, electricity and heating.
I am heartily sick of this gaslighting of the people by our, “government.” I genuinely believe such deliberately misleading, egregious lies should be criminalised.
As to Labour using the prospect of a May election against Rishi Sunak, SO THEY SHOULD. After all, he DID put up the prospect, therefore having no one else to blame for that. And, if Labour can build up a sufficient wave of expectation in the minds of the public, perhaps Sunak will see the truth of his situation? That further disappointing the electorate with further delay may well buy the Tories six more months, but that will be six more months of British economic decline, the official declaration of Britain’s Recession and an angry public, chomping at the bit, just waiting for their opportunity to punish Sunak’s Tories for that additional delay!
Maybe (just maybe?) Sunak will have enough sense to recognise that he should quit while he’s behind, rather than set un unbeatable record for the biggest Tory defeat in democratic history? All he can do now is preside over a civil war within his own party and see their popularity further decline. Nothing will change that now. Memories are short. But they’re not THAT short.
