This private company called Reform UK may well only exist (now) to seek a way for its former Tory members to find a way back in from the cold, after being variously deselected or otherwise fired from the Tories for their disreputable behaviour. But it would be idiotic of the Tories to consolidate around the very people who are responsible for burning down their house, either by helping to destroy them at this election, or by forcing populism into their ranks via Brexit, or by doing the very things that got them kicked out of the Tories in the first place! In fact, that would be such a dumb move for the Tories that I imagine they’ll do it. They’ve gotten everything else about as wrong as it is possible to get it, so why stop now?
