  1. What we’re calling, “AI,” now is NOT what most people think it is. These warnings should be taken seriously, but not because of any machine that, “thinks,” as they simply do NOT. They are machines with no more capacity for thought than the device I’m typing on or the chair I’m sitting on. But, it’s a machine that can pass a Turing test, and will be abused. The major competitors, Microsoft, Google, etc, have all fired their safety, quality assurance and security teams! Italy just got into a quagmire, because they found out in court that ALL devices use, “AI,” already! While you type your words, look at the boxes next to your typing box, suggesting the next word, or an emoji, etc. That is the SAME engine as ChatGPT, just not as refined. It’s on your phone, Alexa, TV, PlayStations, Xbox’s, everything. Especially your apps. That’s what the Italian government’s lawyers discovered when they laughably attempted to ban AI, and their computers said, “no.” We really need people who understand this stuff, to start with, before we even think about legislation. What Italy should have done was halt further development, rather than ban their own phones, tablets and apps.
