  1. Jeez! I thought corruption and indolence were bad in the UK! Germany needs to clean house! A corruption investigation going back 20 years would take too long, but that needs to happen anyway! The only hope for root and branch reform is elections, I guess? And some financial assistance from the US?

  2. You don’t have, “a generation’s,” worth of time to get that, “work,” done! A root and branch reform of the BWB is the only solution available to Germany, along with increased spending. Remove the circumlocution offices altogether and streamline the process, or Germany will be left behind as Poland emerges as the new powerhouse of Europe, supplying weapons and defending the borders of Europe. Maybe a working party, to look at how they reformed things there so incredibly quickly in the last few years, is what’s called for. Cut the red tape and give jobs to the East Germans who still feel left out of the economic dynamism of Germany’s growth since the fall of the Iron Curtain? Two birds, one stone?
