@Yifei15 : Do you know who has as much gas and oil as Russia in the EU? According to Shell and Exxon, it’s Ukraine. It’s in the Donbas region and off shore in Crimea. Now it’s also in the west, by the Carpathian Mountains. So, if Russia loses this war, they have a competitor who will take 3 to 5 years to drill it and get the infrastructure and pipelines built, but who can push international prices down whilst making Ukrainians rich. Of course, Putin knows this, which is WHY he invaded. And the west knows this too, which is why Putin has been stunned by their resolve. Ever since the term, “energy security,” has been a thing, the west has ensured total domination of it. Putin is going to find he’s no exception. So, cutting off energy reliance on Putin will be no bad thing. It won’t last forever. Only until his colleagues decide to do something about him.

@garygraham8373 : I don’t think so? China is secretly FUMING at Putin, who told them (at the Winter Olympics) that he would annex Ukraine in a matter of days, suck up a few sanctions that he’d set his, “war chest,” aside for and it would be back to business as usual, and it would make it even harder for the west to do anything about Xi’s plans to invade Taiwan! Now, suddenly Taiwan is looking like a distant dream and Xi is hopping mad. Taking Taiwan is the legacy he wants to leave behind; forever remembered as the man who consolidated the Chinese Empire. He needs Russia’s swollen debts and economy the size of Spain’s (but with way more corruption) to look after like he needs a bag on his hip!
Xi is a very smart man. And China will do what’s best for China, which is usually nothing, unless they can get money or power out of it. Putin has the reputation for, “smart,” because he’s actually sly and cunning, but he’s as dumb as a rock. Xi knows that too. He doesn’t want Russia screwing up his plans any more than they already have.
