It’s heartening, yes. And it seems like the best Putin’s trolls can do is try to convince us that paying extra for our gas in our cars is going to be such an inconvenience that we would be willing to sell out a whole country for it? We had price hikes for energy coming anyway! At least this way, we get to feel like those extra dollars are contributing something to the cause of freedom?

@spooky1640 : Yeah, that’s the idea, son. It’s called, “sanctions,” for a reason. It’s meant to hurt. Putin can pull out of Ukraine any time you know? His people can toss him out, whenever they’re ready you know? The west will give them aid and help rebuild their economy if they lose the dictatorship any time, you know?

@DonaldJ : That’s a good point which deserved more likes than it got. And it’s what Putin needs to worry about. The longer these sanctions go on, the more people start getting their goods and services elsewhere, the more long term contracts get signed, and before you know it, they wind up having to give away gas and oil just to pay for reparations, even trading away their nukes, in return for stability and food? Of course, that will only happen over Putin’s dead body, but I bet there are a few oligarchs who are already missing their yachts and lifestyles, to whom this will have occurred? . . .

@NotLikeWhatYouThink : What? You’re an old fashioned communist are you? Just as well, really. Because you’re about to go back to the Cold War days of cuing all day for a loaf of bread, no internet, except what the state allows, no TV or newspapers unless Putin approves them, and a jail sentence if you complain too loudly about starving. So, good for you, madam.

@fernandoperez8587 : They might have to, “nationalise all these things.” Like in the old Iron Curtain days. Do you think Russians will be OK with old style poverty?
