  1. He’s an actor too. Why shouldn’t he speak? In the land of the 1st Amendment and free speech? It doesn’t matter whether the show is lame, or if Zelensky is lame (he’s a hero) does it? The question should be, why stop him from speaking? Who’s interests does silencing him serve?

  3. If there’s one actor out there who deserves to be honoured it’s Zelensky. If there’s one actor out there who has put his money where his mouth is it’s Zelensky. If there’s one actor out there who should be entitled to a place among the elites of his profession it’s Zelensky. And if there’s one actor out there who might have something to say that’s actually worth listening to for change, well . . . You know where this is going . . . The question should be, why shouldn’t he be allowed to speak there? Of all places? . . .

  6. Seems to me we can’t have it both ways? Personally, I’m kinda’ sick of entitled people thinking the world should pay attention to their political opinions just because they can cry on demand and earn a fortune for doing it. But, if anyone has earned the right to speak at the Oscars it’s a fellow artist? Zelensky is an actor. And the world NEEDS to hear what he has to say in Ukraine’s hour of desperate need. It’s controversial, sure. But the world has to stop looking the other way when it suits them. We either take actors seriously when they use their platform, or we should stop listening altogether. It seems like this would be the wrong hill for the Academy to die on. How can it, “hurt,” them to have a message from a fellow actor turned hero? Let him speak 🤷‍♂️

  7.  @ianstrong3588  : I have no time for actors who want to lecture us on their, “opinions,” either. But we are in danger of missing the point here. Zelensky is an actor, after all. Whether you think the Oscars and the whole academy sucks or not is not the issue. If anyone deserves a place among the elites of his profession, surely Zelensky does? Why WOULDN’T they allow him that?
