  180. Has to be, right? And, I think the leaders of the, “left,” must be in on it? Why else did they come up with such a triggering, means-the-opposite-of-what-it-sounds-like, DUMB name for it? And why haven’t the liberal media changed that name or at least taken the time to EXPLAIN IT better? Wreaks of conspiracy! Literally EVERYBODY wants the same thing! If that politician had said, “Do you want to fight crime with a well funded, well equipped, well staffed Sheriff’s or police department? Or do you prefer being a social worker, psychiatric nurse, corporate goon’s bodyguard, and a debt collector for the banks, putting tearful, broke assed families out on the streets? Because, if you want the former, then you WANT DEFUNDING!” But the best he could come up with in the moment was, “I accept funding, ahem . . . I mean, ‘endorsements,’ from anyone . . . Including the KKK and the Feck Your Momma To Death Party”??? I mean, NEITHER of them KNOWS what TF they’re TALKING ABOUT, or they wouldn’t BE disagreeing!!! If that’s NOT a conspiracy to muddy the waters of a no brainer, mutually beneficial, obvious solution, then it’s literally THE DUMBEST, most cringeworthy, humiliating case of crossed wires since the My Favourite Color Is Better Than Yours Wars of 1852! Two opposing men, who actually agree but don’t know it, might as well have both stood up and said, “I have never looked up the meaning of the term I am angry about! So, uuughhhhhhh . . . WAAAAAHHH!!!” F’king DOLTS! 🤦‍♂️ . . . Hehhhhhhh . . . 🤷‍♂️ ✌️👍

  186.  @jfh667  : Trump was not involved in the negotiations. Mike Pompeo followed trump’s orders to end the war however he could. He surrendered to the Taliban, released their leader from US custody (along with their top 5000 war dogs) and made an arrangement which Biden kept, on Biden’s terms. By locking out the Afghan government, trump’s administration guaranteed the collapse of their democracy, which was corrupt and rotten to the core anyway. But, not even involving them in those, “negotiations,” amounted to abject surrender and betrayal. Thus, the Afghan government followed trump’s example and betrayed their people, by either fleeing or surrendering themselves. Biden told his generals what was coming and no one had any illusions. He lied to the American public about the strength and will of the Afghani troops and government, so as to prevent panic, and not be the cause of more chaos. If he’d said what he truly expected, he would have made it worse, caused worse chaos and been, “blamed,” for that too. Given the hand he was dealt, he put Americans first, and pulled off a minor miracle, getting Americans out without any blood spilled. We can’t count the bombing, as that was as much an attack on the Taliban as it was on the US and the Afghan allies. It was an immense achievement, getting around the obstacles that trump deliberately left behind, in hopes of sabotaging a withdrawal; which worked on the assumption that Biden would see how, “boxed in,” he was, and kick the can down the road, as all previous administrations had. But, he did not count on Biden’s resolve, or his willingness to take heat for the sake of our troops. No one thought he would pull it off, which was why he was able to do it, before America’s enemies could martial their forces against us. It was quite brilliant, actually, and Joe deserves our gratitude and support. Those comparing this to Vietnam or claiming this was IN ANY WAY a, “failure,” are historically illiterate and have no clue how history or the military works.

  220. I read that book. And I despair. Here is a prime example. Two men, a politician and a senior cop, disagreeing over, “defunding the police.” Neither man knows what the term means, nor realises that they both want precisely the same thing. Either out of deliberate obtuseness, conspiracy, or sheer ignorance, they have not got a definition of the term to hand. Ask either one of them, “Would you prefer a well funded, well equipped, well staffed police force to solve crimes, prevent crimes and catch criminals? Or are you happy to see the expanded use of the police as psychiatric nurses, social workers, corporate goon body guards and bailiffs for the banks, collecting debts and turning poor people out of their homes?” They would BOTH give the same answer! They BOTH want, “defunding,” but . . . Do they? . . . They’re either the dumbest people to be put in charge of anything, or corporate stooges, right? What other possibility is there? Even the name, “defunding,” sounds like the opposite of what it means, and was SO BOUND to trigger unthinking people, who never look sh*t up! Talk about ASKING to be misunderstood? Reform will have to come from the ground up, with better terms to define the debate. I’ve never, in all my years, seen such an obvious misunderstanding getting so much fuel from such egregiously idiotic, “leaders,” in such an obviously callous exploitation of ignorance. It’s problem that America does NOT WANT to solve. Too much MONEY to be lost . . . And little honor to be found.

  227. That’s kind of missing the point though. Everyone’s aware that the color of your skin changes your life opportunities and it changes the individual’s expectations of justice and equity. To analyse how that works, from cradle to the grave, is a noble endeavour, so long as it is done with earnest, honest integrity and intent. Once it is given a, “name,” it becomes a straw man, for people to attack, because they don’t understand it. And you can guarantee that anyone who is, “against CRT,” is speaking from a position of ignorance: 100% of the time. So, to get bogged down in its origin story, is as misguided as arguing over who started The Beer Hall Putsch on the beaches of Normandy on D Day. No one is teaching it. It’s not on the curriculum. Academics argue that it should, “inform,” teaching methods, and is something that educators should know about when teaching; in the same way that people are taught to be aware of racism, sexism and oppression in general. It’s not a thesis. It’s not a formal discipline. It’s an idea about awareness. As ever, the GOP are mischaracterising something, for the sake of creating a shadow to box with. Because they dare not deal with ANY policy in a substantive manner. To do so could only lead to the revelation that they not only NEVER serve the public good, but that they are the CAUSE of the public’s harm. So, with respect. Learn what it is and pay more attention to the content of the, “thing,” than when and where it manifested? I could tell you a lot about Copenhagen, Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein, but that wouldn’t tell you anything about Physics, or the Copenhagen Interpretation. See what I mean?

  259.  @Rin-qj7zt  : So glad that you’re getting where I’m coming from. If being educated was a condition of the job; the expectation, then the community would genuinely start looking up to cops. If they were meant to be the calm one in every situation and not, “the threat,” then people would WANT to help them. They wouldn’t be reluctant to tell them their details, because they wouldn’t feel like they were being trapped into something. That fundamental culture of the cop being the, “smartest person in the room,” and people having the expectation that s/he is going to be the one who resolves the conflict with the least drama, is what we should be training them for. We do them as much of a disservice as we do the public, by not offering cops high academic levels of in-house training; even elevating aspects of their job to degree and doctorate levels of academe. Training them into a culture of, “head stuff,” and to put a stigma on emotional policing is the way to go. When your colleagues are saying, “Ahh, no. You clearly got mad at that guy. That’s bad,” would be using peer pressure (the strongest force) against violent policing. Nearly all the videos I see, of police brutality, have the same three factors: the cop was not smart enough to use his words; the cop got angry; and the cop knew the culture he worked in expected him to have physical control over others at all times, and he felt like he was failing, just because his suspect wasn’t clicking his heels and snapping to attention when he issued a, “lawful,” command. I mean, even that language is a giveaway, right? “I’m issuing a lawful order!” Really? Could you maybe just start by asking the guy for his help and cooperation? Why are you his enemy walking in? Even if your arresting the guy, have the decency to show regret that it’s come to this? Most people would let you put on the cuffs and shrug! Sorry, I’m going on a bit now ✌️👍

  299. Ultimately, this was a case of political corruption at the heart of a charity. Probably, most disturbingly, committed by people who didn’t even acknowledge their own hypocrisy corruption; telling themselves that what Cuomo, “stood for,” was what made him, “too big to fail,” so the truth didn’t matter? Spare a thought for the victims of serious sexual assault and harassment, who are (or recently were) in the process of being supported by Time’s Up, when all this hypocrisy lead to the collapse of an already burning building? Imagine the despair of all those (mostly) women who were relying on them for legal and moral support? I would not be surprised to learn of suicides as a direct result of this? Every time I see the name, “Johnny Depp,” mentioned on YouTube, I always write the same comment; “Depp was framed!” But, the good news is that Robert Downey Jr has insisted on having Depp in his third Sherlock Holmes movie, in a major role (probably the villain) and that he has huge support within the population; unlike Amber Herd, who’s star is already fading. The bad news is that it is more and more falling to the, “popular,” vote, for justice to get spread around a little more evenly. Because it seems that Injustice gets spread around, just as easily? The people involved in Time’s Up deserve all that’s coming to them. But the people they were helping? What of them now? They trusted them, and will mostly be legit cases of people out on a limb, with few options left to them, as their main advocate has been discredited. I hear you. I feel you. I just hope lessons will be learned? And that people who want change in the world, don’t start becoming like their cultish opponents, disregarding all news and narratives they don’t, “like,” in favor of ones they, “prefer,” until hypocrisy becomes less of a, “trap,” for people to fall into, due to racism, sexism, and all those other, “isms,” and more of a lifestyle choice? There’s too much MONEY sitting around in Time’s Up’s bank account for them to just shut up shop overnight? But, whether that gets donated to worthier charities, or they try to fix their broken organisation, will be the next big story to watch for them. I just hope they take good care of the case load on their books? I hope they don’t desert the people who trusted in them for help and guidance, so easily as they did their moral responsibilities?
