  47. A well thought out comment. I would stress that Putin is only talking about the placement of missile silos, which is a far cry from threats to use them. It’s always an indicator of when Putin is feeling his losses and frustrations the most, when he does this sort of thing and, at this stage, it is only words. And we all know that Putin’s words are as worthless as an SBF NFT. As to Russian, “law,” that distinction is only potentially useful after the fact of a coup, or something, where the already badly abused military refuses an order to use tactical nukes. Any commander who does that is either preparing for civil war, or preparing for martyrdom. I would remind people, for instance, that it is illegal, according to the Russian constitution, to have ANY form of private military forces in Russia, or working abroad for Russia. Yet, no one is asking how the Wagner Group is even a thing in Russia? Russian, “law,” is as meaningless to Russians as their concept of, “democracy.” In my view, we simply need to CALL PUTIN’S BLUFF. He’s always bluffing. All commentators have to, “take such threats seriously,” because it would be irresponsible not to. But the reality is that this is Outin attempting to look strong when he’s feeling particularly weak. We should tell him that the west’s response will be to accelerate Ukraine’s membership of NATO and put nukes in Ukraine. It was America (Bill Clinton’s administration) that persuaded Ukraine to give up their nukes altogether in the first place, which we can all regret at leisure now. Putin wouldn’t be pulling this crap if Ukraine still had them. It’s about time that we study recent history and get one thing into our heads: CALL HIS BLUFF. That ALWAYS works. But only when we’re serious!
