Life on this planet is alread doomed, it always was. Life was almost wiped out multiple times. You never know, human activity could actually be what prolongs it next time. We could redirect a plant killing asteroid, kill a deadly pathogen, or preserve the seeds of life that will allow the planet to have a new start. We are not all good, nor are we all bad. We have a place in this world and succumbing to the wrath of nature without resistance is not living up to our potential. Short sightedness is a mater of perspective.

@Cuthbert237 Then how did Bezos do Amazon if he didn't come from a wealth? He had the same setbacks of slow upward mobility and no trickle down economics (according to you) and it didn't stop him from building Amazon. It wouldn't have happened in any other nation. You are not comparing average people to average people. You can't make the anomaly the standard. The average American lives on $160/day and that IS the American standard. Americans are not poor by a global standard. It's funny that you completely disregarded half of what I said.

@Cuthbert237 Yeah, tell that to the bottom 0.01% when you toss out old food and waste clean water. Are you seriously saying that some profit from living in the same location as the top 0.01% AND that there is no trickle down economics? Explain how that works in your mind. Infrastructure does not factor into individual wealth. You can't sell a road to pay for clothing and shelter. It sounds like you're in denial.

@B.Whittaker Once man left Africa we have been negatively affecting the planet. Just look at North America. Before man arrived there was super fauna (giant bears, sloths, saber toothed tigers, dire wolves, mammoth, horses, camels, giant beaver...) and they are gone in the geological blink of an eye. We are a non native species and we must alter the environment to survive, and no, noone is making positive change. Everyone who lives a life outside of a sustainable hunter/ gatherer method (a neutral impact) has a negative impact. There is no "positive" impact. Are you willing to starve because you need glasses and can't find food, or die from an tooth abscess or a ruptured appendix because modern medicine is detrimental to the environment? He'll no you're not. We are not going to transcend, we are what we are and we prevent evolution ever time we use technology to prevent slow, horrible, 100% curable, and preventable deaths. The ONLY way to "reduce" our impact is to kill off 99.99% of all people and maintain that number without any technology. That is what it takes to bring about your pie in the sky utopia. Don't be ridiculous...
