The symbol of nursing is the Cross Pattee, also the cross used bt the Templar Knights. You're not supposed to wear it in any way unless you live your life in the service of othets.

New nurses go through a ceremony called "pinning" where they are given a pin. This pin used to have the Cross Pattee on it. The nursing pin has a long history, dating back more than 1,000 years to the 12th century crusades. During this violent time period, those who were devoted to caring for the injured and ill were given large pattee crosses to wear on the battlefields.
