WTF So, your friends healthcare and college tuition is paid for by taxes. That is not free. WTF How about you work for the next month, and give me all the money that you would have earned in that time to save me the trouble of earning it myself? This is taxes for social programs like tuition. I could use that money every year for a few years to improve the rest of my life (like some students), I could never stop taking your money every year (become a "professional student") or I could take your money for a few years and squander the opportunity (like a student that drops out), just like with free tuition. Whether the money causes an improvement or it is wasted is not up to you, but the government that you already fail to trust. You will never be able to stop them from taking your money, and they will continue to take more and more because they think, "We have a right to the products of your labor." just like you think now. WTF You want to force everyone to invest in something that may never produce beneficial results (like the US post office)? And lets not forget that the government will pick winners and losers too, based on nothing but quotas instead of potential. Would you support the government doing the same in business? How much money do you donate each week to scholarships for people that you do not know? Do you put your money where your mouth is?

If we had to make parents pay while they hade schoolage children, most wouldn't be able to afford it and society would devolve into a class system where the rich would be the only ones able read, write, or do basic math, they would hold all the power.
