Thalidomide was banned in the US, thanks to a Canadian woman who sat on the FDA board, who had studied the deformities from it coming out of Europe in the early '60's. Thalidomide was never approved in the USA, thanks to her. (At least, not for pregnant women.) But before Thalidomide, there was DES, yet another cancer-causing, reproductive harm to unbornbabies. I had childhood friends whose mothers took it when pregnant, and one developed uterine cancer at age 20 which nearly killed her, and another, a male relative, was left unable to become a father because his mother took it. Another friend whose mother took it had repeated miscarriages and pemature babies because of it. The FDA is NOT your friend!
